About Us

William J. Johnston is a WASC Accredited Community Day School located in a quiet San Pedro neighborhood that specializes in academic and behavioral interventions for at-risk 7th through 12th grade students in both the general and special education settings. Johnston CDS provides students with credit recovery options and behavior support by offering a personalized educational setting in a small environment that consists of direct instruction and online opportunities.

Our Mission

Johnston CDS’ mission is to provide an opportunity for students to learn in a clean and safe environment and to respect and value diversity. We use active learning and community involvement to promote healthy self-esteem, and to develop communication and academic skills that prepare students to live as responsible, contributing individuals in today’s society.

iReady Family Webinar

Dear Families,

This Thursday, Nov. 30th, at 5:30 PM the i-Ready team will present to our families iReady information connecting the iReady assessment results to what is being taught (instruction). i-Ready is a suite of computer-based assessments that is designed to provide a complete picture of student performance and growth across ELA and Math. The reports generated highlight student strengths and areas of growth. The resources provide next steps and a personalized learning pathway for students.
